Bärbel Müller is a trained mezzo-soprano and lyric soprano, her main focus is on recitals and concerts, mainly with musical-literary programs. Since 2012 she has been a lecturer in singing at the Mozarteum University and also supervises a private singing class in Munich.
Bärbel Müller began her singing studies in 1980, first in Stuttgart and Trossingen with Herrad Wehrung, then at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main with Elsa Cavelti. She was initially trained as a mezzo-soprano and made her debut in 1992 at the Landestheater Linz. After a few years in a permanent engagement, her path led her to various stages at home and abroad such as Essen, Darmstadt, Ulm, Vienna, Prague, Strasbourg, Marseille and Nantes. In 2004 she changed her voice to lyric soprano, which enabled her to expand her repertoire to include important roles in this subject, such as Donna Anna and the Marschallin. In 2011 and 2012 she sang Leonore in Beethoven's Fidelio at the State Theater in Szczecin. This was followed in 2013 by the Senta in The Flying Dutchman. In March 2015 the sexton appeared in Janacek's opera Jenufa on the stages of the city of Gera. Smaller roles there are Jocaste in Georges Enescu's opera Oedipe and Ludmilla from The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana.
