Johannes Wilhelm performs as a lied accompanist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Asia and in the U.S. In addition, he has an active artistic collaboration within the framework of the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg, the Monteverdi Choir, the Collegium Vocale Gent and the Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Choir.

The Austrian pianist Johannes Wilhelm studied piano, pedagogy, chamber music and organ at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

During his musical training, he was awarded numerous scholarships and prizes, including the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research’s Distinction Award.

As a soloist, chamber musician in various formations and as an accompanist, Johannes Wilhelm has given concerts in many countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the USA, among others in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg, the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg, the Teatros del Canal Madrid, the Berliner Philharmonie and the Vienna Konzerthaus.

Johannes Wilhelm regularly works as a pianist, organist, and accompanist with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg, the Munich Radio Orchestra and choirs such as the Monteverdi Choir, Il Canto di Orfeo, the Collegium Vocale Gent, the Chorus sine nomine and the Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor as part of the Salzburg Festival.

He also performs opera productions and solo rehearsals at the Salzburg Festival, which enable him to collaborate with such important conductors as Franz Welser-Möst, Manfred Honeck, Sir John Elliot Gardiner, Teodor Currentzis, Philippe Herreweghe, Gianluca Capuano, Enrique Mazzola, Andrew Manze, Matthew Halls, Riccardo Minasi and renowned singers.

In 2018, Johannes Wilhelm, together with soprano Christina Gansch and horn player Peter Dorfmayr, released the CD “Wiener Melange”, which is dedicated to chamber music for Viennese horn and piano.

In addition to his concert work, Johannes Wilhelm has been in charge of his own piano class at the Mozarteum University since 2011. In 2016 he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer and in the fall of 2022, he was appointed to lead the Pre-College course for the Department of Keyboard Instruments, which aims to promote outstanding young artists.
