Stephan Quandel was born in Siegen, Germany in 1989. After graduating from high school in 2009, he studied instrumental composition with Krzysztof Meyer and Markus Hechtle (Bachelor) at the HfMT Cologne, as well as music theory and aural training with Friedrich Jaecker and Johannes Schild (Bachelor and Master). Since 2016 he has received teaching assignments for music theory and aural training at the HfMT Cologne, MH Lübeck and at the Institute of Music (IfM) of the HS Osnabrück. Since October 2019 he has been working as senior lecturer for music theory and aural training at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. His research focuses on the field of new music theory approaches and the music of the late Romantic period (especially Gustav Mahler).
