Elke Renner was born in 1964 in Wels, Upper Austria. After working in the export industry (amongst other things as an assistant manager in Switzerland and a branch manager in Belgium) for fourteen years, she began her degree in German studies and selected subjects (Gewählte Fächer) at the Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg, with a focus in German as a foreign language and medieval studies. She has worked as a German instructor, both nationally and internationally, at various private institutions, in conjunction with American study abroad programs (AIFS, Bowling Green State University, St. John’s/St. Benedicts), and in the Language Centre of the Universität Salzburg. In addition, she also worked as an examiner for the Austrian Language Certificate (das Österreichische Sprachdiplom) at the Universität Salzburg’s former ÖSD Exam Centre. From 2002 to 2022, she has worked as a lecturer for German as a foreign language in the  Universität Salzburg’s German department. Since 2016 she has worked at the Universität Mozarteum and since 2012, Elke Renner has been contracted to work as a part of the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum. She also works as a trainer for highly sensitive individuals and is an instructor for shinrin yoku courses.
