David Paulig was born in Limburg and studied music and geography in Cologne. Afterwards he studied at the University of Music and Dance (HfMT) in Cologne compositional technique with Tilmann Claus, auditory education with Friedrich Jaecker and instrumental pedagogy with Ursula Schmidt-Laukamp. In 2011 he he finished his studies. Between April 2012 and October 2014, he was working as a teacher for auditory education, ear training and analysis at the Evangelical Church Music College in Herford and at the music academies in Detmold, Hanover and Karlsruhe. Until 2013 he was part of the RSH vocal ensemble of the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf under the direction of Anders Eby. He regularly gives concerts with the recorder in various formations and also gives lessons and seminars for recorder ensembles as well as one on one lessons. Since October 2014 he has been a senior lecturer at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in the areas of music theory, ear training, analysis, improvisation and general bass playing.
