Univ.-Prof. Christina Laabs

studied philology at the “Free University of Berlin” and completed with a Master of Arts. She studied vocal and speech training and finished this with the state exam as a vocal and speech teacher. She started working as a voice therapist for actors and singers in the phoniatry at the Charité in Berlin.

2000 she started with speech training for performing artists. She taught at the academy Ernst Busch Berlin, at „The School of Visual Theatre“ in Jerusalem and at the Drama Department of the  “University of the Arts” in Berlin.

Christina Laabs worked as a coach for actors at the theatre and for many theatre productions at the academy. She gave lectures at conferences and headed a pilot projekt on combining two methods: the “theatrical biomechanics” of W. E. Meyerhold and “the gestural body-voice training”.

Her approach to speech training is “the gestural speaking”, which was developed at the academy Ernst Busch and her main emphasis is on training and technique bordering on virtuosity.

2009 Christina Laabs became guest lecturer at the “University of Arts” in Berlin, 2010 she received a professorship at the academy Ernst Busch Berlin, 2015 she got professorship at the Department of Drama “Thomas Bernhard” of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum.
