Romed Hopfgartner, born in Lienz in 1976, studied saxophone with Florian Bramböck at the Tyrolean State Conservatory and with Wolfgang Puschnig at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. As a musician he has played in numerous jazz bands, chamber music ensembles, big bands, orchestras and theaters in Germany and abroad for the last few years – one of them being the internationally successful Musicbanda Franui, where he is a saxophonist and clarinetist as well as acomposer. As a theater musician and composer, he has already worked for the Salzburg Festival, the Burgtheater Vienna, the Volkstheater Vienna, the United Stages Bozen, the Landestheater Innsbruck, the Summer Theater Hall and the Volksschauspiele Rattenberg. He also participated in numerous CD productions and released four of them under his own name. In 2016 he received the Jazz Award of the City of Innsbruck and in 2018 the annual price of German record criticism with the Ensemble Franui for the CD "Ständchen der Dinge".
