Prof. Pavel Giliov, born in the former Soviet Union, has performed with orchestra already in age of eight years. His extraordinary musical talent was discovered by Dimitri Kabalewsky, on whose recommendation Giliov began studying piano in St. Petersburg (Leningrad). There he graduated with distinction.


Already as a student Pavel Giliov won 1972 the National Piano Competition in Moskow and then he began his career as a soloist. He is laureate of the international Chopin-Competition (Warschau 1975) and of the international Viotti-piano-Competition (Vercelli 1978).


Pavel Giliov is a frequent guest on important music festivals like the Salzburger Festspiele, the Schleswig-Holzstein Musikfestival, the Edinburgh Musikfestival and others. Since 1997 he is artistic director of the Sommerclassics a music festival in Rheinland-Pfalz.


He leads a master class for piano at the Conservatory of Cologne and at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. He gives many master courses in Europe and Far East.
