Achim Bornhoeft teaches a class in composition at the Mozarteum University, directs the Electronic Music Studio and the festival for European composition students and young ensembles Crossroads. His artistic work focuses on instrumental music with live electronics, electronic music, computer-assisted composition and contemporary choreography.
Achim Bornhoeft studied composition with Nicolaus A. Huber and Dirk Reith at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.  His compositions are performed at international festivals in Germany and abroad by performers such as Irvine Arditti, Reinhold Friedrich, Robin Schulkowsky, the HR Symphony Orchestra, the Basel Radio Symphony Orchestra and ensembles such as Aventure, Mosaik, Phorminx, OENM, NAMES and Taller Sonoro , including Donaueschinger Musiktage, ultraschall (Berlin), Daegu International Musical Festival (Korea), Dialoge Festival (Salzburg), Klangspuren Schwaz and Warsaw Autumn. Lecture and concert tours have taken him to the Roaring Hoofs Festival (Mongolia), Silk Sound Road Festival (Kyrgyzstan), 2 Days & 2 Nights (Ukraine), Cracking Bamboo (Vietnam and Indonesia) and Music Biennale Zagreb. Achim Bornhoeft held master classes and taught at universities in Riga, Parma, Lisbon, Salamanca, Seoul, Mexico City, Bari, Cape Town, Seville, Milan and Riva del Garda.
