Albert Osterhammer was born in Bernau am Chiemsee. He received his first clarinet lessons at the Grassau Music School, where he later also worked as a teacher. In 1985 he started studying at the Munich Conservatory with Gerd Starke. After completing his master class in 1991, he received a scholarship from the Karajan Foundation of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and continued his studies with Karl Leister. A year later, he began his engagement at the Frankfurt Opera as a bass clarinet player. In the same function, he has been with the Munich Philharmonic since 1995, where he is a sought-after chamber music partner and performs a variety of chamber concerts. He teaches at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and in the orchestra academy of the Munich Philharmonic. In addition to his orchestral and teaching activities, he is involved in promoting the musical youth of his hometown and leads the wind band there.
