Marion Spingler was born in Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg, in 1962 and gained her first musical experience in elementary school with lessons in singing, choir, piano and harmony at the music school Neustrelitz. She gained her first practical experience as a singer at the music school in Neustrelitz and at the Landestheater Neustrelitz. During her school days, concert tours took her to Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic. After her A-levels in 1981 she studied singing and vocal pedagogy at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. During her studies in Berlin, she expanded her repertoire by many small solo roles and she sang at the Staatsoper Unter Linden and the Komische Oper Berlin. She received a scholarship, which took her to the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow in 1982. In 1985 she graduated with a diploma in singing and a diploma in vocal pedagogy. In 1996 she moved to Cologne to study concert singing with Josef Metternich at the Cologne University of Music. During her studies in Cologne, she was working at opera houses in Bonn, Essen and Cologne. She attended master classes with Günter Leib, Ruth Berghaus and Harry Kupfer. The engagement in Wuppertal in cooperation with Pina Bausch was a special time for her. In the university preparation class at the music academy "Hanns Eisler", at the music schools in Neustrelitz, Grünwald, Neuried and at the University of Teacher Education in Cologne, she was able to gain teaching experience. Since 2002 she is working at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where she has been teaching singing. CD recordings, concert tours, committee work, awards at competitions and concert activities complete her artistic work.
