Prof. Armin Langer

Armin Langer studied business management at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt (1976-1977) and then completed a teacher-training course for teaching in secondary schools (music and sport) also at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt (1978-1982).
From 1987 Dr. Armin Langer taught at various schools in Kelsterbach and Frankfurt am Main. Since 1997 he has been head of training for teaching music at the study seminar in Frankfurt am Main which involves preparing trainee teachers for the second state examination and includes specialist didactic and academic seminars as well as the planning, organisation, evaluation and analysis of music lessons. Armin Langer was a lecturer at the  University of Frankfurt am Main in the institute of music educational theory from 1996 to 1998 and was responsible for specialist academic and didactic seminars. In 1997 he became a member of the academic examination office for teachers and in 1999 was appointed as an evaluation expert.  
Dr. Armin Langer is a co-founder of the UNI-Big Band Frankfurt am Main; since 1982 he has led various jazz ensembles and worked as a freelance journalist for the features section of the  Darmstädter Echo.

From the winter semester in 2000 he was a guest professor at the institute for music educational theory in Innsbruck of the Mozarteum University. He was head of department there from 2004 to 2011.  In 2003, together with Prof. Oebelsberger, he founded an initiative for research on music education in Austria.
