Francois-Pierre Descamps was born in Lille, France, where he began his musical education at the conservatory. He later studied at the Paris Conservatory (diploma with distinction in cello), at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (5 diplomas in Solfège spécialisé, harmony, counterpoint, fugue and orchestration) and at the École Normale de Musique de Paris (conducting). In 1989 he went to Vienna to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts (concert diploma in orchestral conducting with honors and choral conducting).  

As a cellist he has played with many ensembles and chamber orchestras. As a conductor he has worked with the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler, the Ensemble Phace, the Camerata Orphica, the Ensemble Platypus, the Vienna Walzer Orchestra, the Mozart Ensemble, the Praha Mozart Orchestra, the G. Dima Philharmonie, the Philharmonia Orchestra Sofia and the Orchester d'Art et d'Essai du Pas-de-Calais. He has accompanied soloists such as Pierre-Yves Artaud (flute), Aldo Ciccolini (piano), Mario Hossen (violin), Wolfgang Klos (viola), Dominique de Williencourt (cello) and Rainer Küchl (violin).

From 1996 to 1997 he was conductor of the Vienna Boys' Choir. Since 1999 he has been a contract teacher for choir and ensemble direction at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in Innsbruck. From 2002 to 2009 he was accompanist at the Opera School for Children at the Vienna State Opera. Since 2000 he has led the choirs of two Catholic churches in Vienna Mariahilf and Maria Treu, with whom he performed the entire repertoire of the orchestral fair of Viennese classical music as well as others (Schumann, Dvorak, Fauré, Duruflé) and numerous a-cappella works. Since 2009 he has had premieres of 30 chamber operas at several festivals of "sirene opera theater". He is also a composer of various pieces for orchestra, songs, a cappella choirs, a violin concerto, three chamber operas and two cantatas.
