Kai Bachmann was born 1965 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and moved to Mexico City at the age of 10. He received his musical education by private lessons and later at the National Music Conservatoire in Mexico City. In 1984 he did the Certificado de Bachillerato and the German Abitur at the German School Alexander von Humboldt in Mexico City. He studied composition at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and graduated with honors. He also studied musicology and Spanish at the Paris-Lodron-University Salzburg, where he did his doctorate of Musicology in the year 1999. Since 1999 he is doing his doctorate at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is Universitary Assistant at the Richter Herf-Institute for Investigation into the Fundamentals of Music and at the Scientific Network Man and Music. He is currently working as a University Assistant in advanced listening, in supervision of academic projects evaluation and teaches music theory.
