String Studies

As one of the leading international institutions of its kind, the Department for String & Plucked Instruments offers young musicians* a top-class education and prepares them for modern concert life. With numerous performance opportunities, competitions, chamber music festivals, orchestral productions, international exchange programs and interdisciplinary projects, a unique atmosphere is offered in the midst of the festival city of Salzburg.

As the largest department, the String and Plucked Instruments is embedded in one of the most versatile art universities in Europe, which gives students the opportunity for a lively exchange with the most diverse forms of music, art and research. In addition, Salzburg offers ideal conditions for concentrated and inspired work. In the midst of an incredible landscape, one can experience performances of operas and concerts by international artists* throughout the year, for example at the Salzburg Festival and the Mozart Week. Here, everyone can find and develop their individual skills and artistic voice.
