Pianists, organists and harpsichordists can only succeed on the international concert stage if they meet the highest standards in the technical mastery of their instrument and in the penetration of the literature. The top priority at the Department of Keyboard Instruments is to prepare students for a career as an instrumentalist in the best possible way. In addition, majors are offered in chamber music and song interpretation, correpetition, fortepiano or piano pedagogy.

Duo Tal & Groethuysen: Avec Esprit

After "1915" (Claude Debussy and Reynaldo Hahn) and "Colors" (Debussy and Richard Strauss), another CD follows, "Avec esprit" with a selection of works for two pianos from the French Romantic period.

5th Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians

Application until 7 May: The competition was launched by the Mozarteum University in 2015 and is aimed at young musicians under the age of 23. It focuses on their virtuosity, their understanding and their interpretation of classical music. The orchestra of the competition is the Salzburg Chamber Soloists.

Prize of the Ruhr Piano Festival 2022 for Yaara Tal & Andreas Groethuysen

Every year, the Ruhr Piano Festival honours artists whose life's work is closely connected to the festival with its prize. The duo Yaara Tal & Andreas Groethuysen played their 17th concert at the Ruhr Piano Festival on 8 July 2023. The "desire for shared sound" characterises each of their performances, for which they often put together special programmes for the Piano Festival.

Pianist Robert Bily wins The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize 2021

Five finalists competed yesterday (April 14) in the Solitär of the Mozarteum University for the coveted 20,000 Euro The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize 2021. The evening's brilliant double winner was pianist Robert Bily, who enchanted both the top-class jury and the audience with a breathtaking interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata (Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, op. 53), Claude Debussy's Images I and Siegfried Thiele's Perpetuum Mobile.
