Katia Ianeva-Borissova studied piano as a concert subject at the Sofia Music Academy, and since 1993 she has been working at the Mozarteum University in what is now the Department of Opera & Music Theater. She has worked for many years on productions of the Salzburg and Bregenz Festivals and the Salzburg Landestheater as a répétiteur, and was, among other things, the director of the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich from 2002-2006.
