Christine Katscher

Senior Artist in the field of art practice[Fine Arts] Innsbruck

Christine Katscher studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, France. After graduating in 2012, she spent a year working in a print workshop in Scotland to deepen her knowledge of printmaking and research artistic production facilities, print workshops and sculpture workshops. Since 2019, she has been a lecturer in the Department of Graphics for Visual Education at the Mozarteum University in Innsbruck.

The move to Vorarlberg was followed by the establishment and management of a printing workshop for letterpress and relief printing, screen printing, gravure printing and lithography. She uses the workshop for her own artistic production, teaching printmaking techniques and organising exhibitions.

Since graduating, Christine Katscher has been developing her artistic works, especially paintings, using drawing and printmaking techniques. The production and development of images is at the centre of her artistic practice. In addition to the immediacy of drawing, printmaking offers a wide range of expressive possibilities for the development of images. The production process and the diverse technical possibilities within printmaking, be it the reproduction of digital photos or the duplication of individual images, flow into the production and exploration of the development of new images.
