Josef A. Ramsauer (B.A. M.A.) was born in 1989 in Mallersdorf (Bavaria). Since 2009 he has studied music theory, education, and science as well as composition at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He has studied under the instruction of Tristan Murail, Achim Bornhoeft, Walter Schweidler and Kathrin Schlemmer among others. In 2015 he received the European Scholarship for Young Composers of the German royalty collecting society GEMA.
Ramsauer is a founder and a creative director of the Ensemble for contemporary music known as New Art and Music Ensemble Salzburg. He is currently teaching music theory at the Pre-College of the Mozarteum Salzburg and composition at the Haus der Musik in Regensburg.
