Patrick Leung was raised in Hong Kong. Driven by his love of the music of Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, he came to Europe, officially to study violin, but ultimately to fulfill his dream of playing chamber music on both violin and piano. After completing his violin study, he obtained a teaching position as a piano-répétiteur at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he encountered wonderful people like Klara Flieder and Rainer Schmidt, who strongly influenced his artistic development and inspired him to pursue a lifelong search for beauty. He has been giving duo recitals for many years with Klara Flieder, with whom he presented the complete cycles of Mozart and Beethoven Piano-Violin Sonatas, as well as projects such as “Schumann and his friends” in various Schumann cities. He also performs frequently with Sophia Herbig, Manca Rupnik and Mikhail Pochekin. Moreover, he initiated various musical projects at the Mozarteum University, including performances of all the Beethoven Piano-Violin Sonatas in one concert with students from the violin class of Rainer Schmidt, Schumann’s song cycles Dichterliebe and Liederkreis with students from the violin class of Annelie Gahl, as well as the complete piano chamber music by Johannes Brahms. He enjoys being a chamber musician and répétiteur, and tries through his intensive collaborations with musicians of different generations to refine the ability of discernment and do what is true to oneself.
