Lecturer in Pedagogical Studies Violin, Viola and Chamber Music

Christos Kanettis obtained concert diplomas at the Athens Conservatory, the Vienna University of Music and the Postgraduate Diploma at the New York Juilliard School of Music, where he studied in the master classes of Dorothy DeLay, Felix Galimir and The Juilliard Quartet. Among his mentors are Sandor Vegh and Ferenc Rados. He internationally gave concerts as a soloist and chamber musician and played numerous world premieres (e.g. by David Druckman, Nikolas Roussakis, Sebastian Currier, Paul Engel). He held master classes in Europe, the USA and Mexico. He did TV, radio and CD recordings for Bayerischer Rundfunk, WQXR "The listening room", New York and WNYC "Around New York". After nine years of teaching in the USA he returned in 1995 to become a lecturer for violin at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and since 1996 he is head of a training class for violin, viola and string chamber music at the Landeskonservatorium Innsbruck. In 2014 he founded the international string initiativeStrings In Motion under the patronage of the Euregio (Tyrol, South Tyrol, Trentino) and several Austrian embassies. With this artistic, pedagogical project he also started cooperations with Mexico and the Ukraine.
