Repertoire

In principle we recommend that participants should use urtext editions. For works by W. A. Mozart candidates are expected to use the New Mozart Edition: http://www.nma.at/ Please perform the works with accompanying Accompagnato-Recitative (if available).

Video Preselection

The video for the preliminary round must contain:
  1. An aria from W. A. Mozart (Opera or Oratorio) and/or a song by W. A. Mozart. The aria may not be repeated in the first round.

  2. An aria from the Italian repertoire of the second round.

Please ensure that the video recording is professional and not older than one year. This should be recorded with only one camera without interruption between the pieces and must not be technically reworked/post-edited in any way. Please upload a corresponding explanation together with the video. The form is available for download.

1st Round with piano accompaniment (12 – 18 minutes)

In 2023 we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the International Society for Contempory Music (ISCM).

The total length of the works sung in the first round should be between 12 and 18 minutes. If this length is exceeded, the performance may be interrupted by the jury.

2nd Round with Piano accompaniment (20-25 minutes)

  1. Mandatory piece for all voice parts: A piece of your choice from "Der Turm zu Babel, Melodien für eine Stimme" by Mauricio Kagel (Edition Peters)

  2. One or more songs by W. A. Mozart

The total length of the presentation should be between 20 and 25 minutes. If this length is exceeded, the performance may be interrupted by the jury.

3rd Round / final with Orchestra

  1. An aria by W. A. Mozart from the given repertoire of the first round - with an accompanying Accompagnato-recitative, if available:
    The aria must not be identical to the programme of the first round. Arias from the video preliminary round may be selected in the final.

  2. A selection of three songs by W. A. Mozart with piano accompaniment
    The songs may not be from the program of the second round.
