University Library

The collection policy of the Mozarteum University Library is orientated towards the spectrum of subjects taught at the university: music, theatre and fine arts.

The University Library is responsible for the following areas:

• Acquisition, inventory management, indexing in accordance with the rules and regulations, and user-friendly provision of all resources required for research, teaching & study while observing the greatest possible continuity and completeness
• Provision of holdings for borrowing by members of the university and by the interested public
• Licensing & organisation of access to electronic resources
• Worldwide acquisition & mediation of scholarly and artistic information, taking into account the copyright regulations
• Conservation, maintenance & participation and collaboration in joint ventures of the Austrian and international library and information system, in particular in the Austrian Library Network
• User training with regard to information literacy
• Documentation of the artistic and scholarly achievements of the university
• Guided tours of the library
• Research courses for all users
• Research courses as part of courses
• Advice on academic research in individual settings
• Courses on working with the literature management program Citavi

In addition, the library is present at various events (e.g. Long Night of Research) and organises the Long Night of Postponed Assignments once per semester, where students will find both material and mental nourishment to help them through the writing process.
